Tujuh belas menit kemudian
MM : Aku tahu! Kalau kuhampiri, mungkin dia akan mengakui siapa dia sebenarnya, meski terpaksa.
RR : Sudahlah, biarkan saja dia.
MM : Yakin, kau tak mengenalnya? Jangan-jangan sebenarnya dia temanmu.
RR : Nope. Aku yakin bukan.
MM : Mengapa kau yakin? Kau bahkan tak bisa melihat wajahnya dengan jelas.
RR : Intuisi.
MM : Hmpfh. Bilang saja kau tak punya teman.
RR : Sembarangan kau..
MM : Eh, benar ya?
RR : Apa?
MM : Kau tak punya teman.
RR : Aku punya.
MM : Omong kosong.
RR : Terserah.
MM : Kalau begitu sebutkan, berapa jumlah temanmu?
RR : Tak ada waktu untuk menghitung hal semacam itu.

MM : Tadi kau bilang tak ada waktu, lalu muncul 4 digit angka begitu saja? Seriously?
RR : Pernah dengar social network?
MM : Maksudmu buku wajah?
RR : Jenius.
MM : Ckckck, menyedihkan. Kau bahkan tak tahu apa yang kau sebut teman.
RR : Maksudmu?
MM : Teman itu apa?
RR : Teman ya teman.
MM : Yaitu?

Music Talk: an introduction of a widget

Just wanna say to you people, I’ve installed a flash_widget right below the subscribe button.
I put some of my music files there, so you can listen to it right on my blog.
Right now there’re only two of them:

A Girl Who Reads

First thing to say, I don’t own these words in italic below.

I don’t even know who Rosemary Urquico is, but it seems like this post spreads everywhere. Tumblr, blogger, wordpress.. and people starts wondering who she is. I even found an article titled “Rosemarie Urquico has been found!“.

Isn’t it slightly amusing? If I haven’t read about her before, I might think that she’s some kind of terrorist, criminal, or pirate. You know, ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ thing? But I think she’s a genius. Maybe she never thought before, how her writing has been read by so many people. How internet made our world seems so small, how some words spread so fast and change people’s life. Wonderful, isn’t it?

Anyway, the first time I read it was on my friend’s tumblr blog, Sintia Pebriana. (Thanks Teh Sin ) If you like it, I think you should click here to read her blog too.

I found this just.. beautiful. As simple as that, the reason why I post it here. This just made my day.

“Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.

Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag.She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Resep Macaroni Schotel a la Nini

Saya tahu, kalo teman2 googling, udah banyak banget yang pernah nulis resep macaroni schotel.
Tapi yang ini beda. Walaupun mungkin ada yang sama2 dikit, pokonya resep yang ini spesial! *keukeuh*

Why? Because this is a secret recipe!! Ini resep rahasia macaroni schotel yang diwarisi dari Nini (nenek, bahasa sunda-red) ! Namanya rahasia, harusnya jangan disebar-sebar! *kalap*
Tapi buat teman2 yang nengok2 blog ini, saya berbaik hati ngasih bocoran. Baik, kan?

Satu lagi, resep ini gampang banget dan credible (bener ga sih istilahnya?). Yeah, pokoknya, saya sendiri udah nyoba masak pake resep ini kira-kira 5 kali dan semuanya sukses. Selalu habis sampai licin. Kadang-kadang berebutan.

Anyway, first step: siapkan pengocok telur yang bentuknya seperti ujung mixer. Kalo ga ada, pake sendok atau garpu pun ga masalah, yang penting bisa dipake untuk mengocok telur dan mengaduk. Kemudian baskom atau mangkuk berukuran sedang yang kira-kira muat untuk mencampur bahan-bahan ini:

3 butir telur ayam

Semuanya dikocok, persis kayak kalo mau bikin telur dadar.

Ohya, satu hal yang musti saya peringatkan sebelum kita terlalu jauh, saya suka banget improvisasi. Seperti kata Jack Sparrow waktu menyelinap ke perkemahan Spanish, “Just improvise!” *sorry lagi-lagi OOT*

Dari coba2 5 kali masak macaroni schotel, ga ada resep yang sama persis, walaupun komposisinya kurang-lebih sama. Telur ini juga, kalo mau coba2, boleh ditambah jadi 4 butir atau bahkan 5 butir. Sesuaikan juga dengan banyaknya macaroni.
Di sini saya tulis telur ayam, tapi kalau kebetulan teman2 punya telur bebek, ga ada salahnya pakai yang ada. Kabarnya telur bebek itu proteinnya lebih tinggi, lho. Tapi jangan diganti telur asin ya.

segelas susu

Bisa susu murni atau susu bubuk yang diseduh. Yang penting tanpa gula. Kalo kira2 nanti macaroninya agak banyak, bisa ditambah jadi satu setengah gelas.

keju

Potong dadu secukupnya. Biasanya saya pake sekitar sepertiga dari keju batang kotakan. Untuk pecinta keju, boleh2 aja kejunya dibanyakin. Anyway saya juga pernah pake keju slices lho. Awalnya saya sempat pesimis, jangan2 rasa kejunya jadi kurang mengena. Eh, ternyata enak juga kok.

merica

Secukupnya. Kalo bingung segimana, pake aja kurang-lebih 3 sendok teh.

garam

Secukupnya juga. Saya pake kurang lebih 3/4 sendok obat batuk.

kecap asin cap anggur

Lagi-lagi, secukupnya ya. Dan ini bukan promosi. Saya cuma menuliskan apa yang diajarin Nini, sumpah. Saya sama sekali ga punya relasi yang memproduksi atau terlibat dalam penjualan kecap cap anggur ini.

bawang bombay

Kurang lebih 3 siung. Diiris dengan ketebalan sewajarnya.

Ngiris bawang selalu jadi aktivitas yang mengharukan karena saya selalu pengen nangis. Sambil ngiris bawang, saya sempat kepikiran: mungkin saja siapapun yang menciptakan gas air mata, awal mulanya terinspirasi dari bawang. Dan saya ga akan heran kalau ternyata gas air mata mengandung bawang. *maaf ya semakin OOT*

Setelah diiris, bawang bombay digoreng sampai harum dan warnanya kecokelatan. Untuk yang belum terbiasa menggoreng bawang dan ternyata bawangnya gosong, jangan khawatir. Taburkan gula pasir pada bawang yang gosong itu. Gosong juga bisa terjadi gara-gara kurang minyak goreng. Ketika menggoreng, kebanyakan minyak tuh kurang sehat & boros, jadi pake minyak seperlunya saja, yang kira2 menutupi permukaan wajan. Tunggu minyaknya panas sebelum memasukkan bawang atau apapun yang akan digoreng.

daging cincang

Silahkan berimprovisasi di sini. Kalo pake daging cincang, bisa digoreng bareng bawang bombay, masukkan tepat setelah bawang bombay harum & kecokelatan. Kalo pake kornet/sarden/tuna yang sudah matang, bisa langsung diaduk dengan bahan yang lain. Saya sengaja ga menentukan takaran karena sesuai selera. Untuk sarden, saya biasanya pakai 1 kaleng netto 155 gram.

macaroni

Boleh macaroni elbow atau spiral, bahkan bisa diganti spaghetti atau fettucini. Sekitar 125 gram. Silahkan ditambah untuk porsi besar, tapi sesuaikan dengan komposisi telur, susu, dan keju.
Rebus sampai lunak dan mengembang, lalu langsung sisihkan dari airnya supaya ga terlalu lembek.

Semua bahan di atas diaduk sampai rata. Sebaiknya setiap kali menambahkan satu jenis bahan langsung diaduk, biar ga susah.

Second step: siapkan loyang. Saya biasanya pake loyang pyrex, tapi bebas sih. Sekali lagi, saya ga lagi promosi kok. Lapisi bagian dalam loyang dengan margarin. Silahkan dioles sampai rata. Margarin itu yang nantinya jadi kulit macaroni schotelmu. Setelah dioles sampai rata, tuangkan adonan tadi ke dalam loyang dan masukkan dalam oven.

Set oven dengan temperatur 200-250 derajat Celcius, selama kurang lebih 20 menit. Setelah 20 menit, taburkan keju parut pada permukaan adonan macaroni schotel, kemudian masukkan kembali ke oven. Kali ini cukup 5 menit. Tapi cek juga saat menaburkan keju parut, kalau kira2 masih terlalu lembek, bisa dipanggang 10 menit lagi. Ovennya jangan ditinggal begitu aja, sesekali sambil dicek ya, hati-hati gosong!

Babbling Out

I felt like it’s been forever since my last post, but I won’t be sorry or apologize. Please don’t ask me that. Because what I’m gonna write was unimportant things. Just a trash.

Like the title, I’m just babbling out right now. Don’t read if you don’t want to. Seriously, i honestly thought it’s much better spending your time to read another things much worthy than this. But well, if you insist, don’t blame me when you regret it.

Have you ever been under pressure? I’m not sure that was the right sentence to express my question, but what i tried to ask was: have you ever been in a condition, that made you feel like pushed to do something you actually couldn’t, or something you didn’t think could do, but somehow you should do it? Then there were many things, it could be people or any other factors around you, that made you completely mad? Because somehow you expect them to help you, to accomplish some particular job perfectly, but in the most anticipated moment, they weren’t there?

As an architecture student, there were many times I had in such condition, especially when it comes to design studio’s assignments. But it doesn’t always an academic case (I’m talking about the under pressure condition). And I honestly aware that the feeling I felt related to academic case maybe just because I’m a spoiled brat. It’s different if we were talking about non-academic case, not about assignments or lectures, but something more..

Argh. I don’t know what I’ve written just now. Forget it. It’s not like I feel that way right now, anyway. Or maybe it is.
..No. Of course not.

Fanfics fever!

I don’t remember when was the first time I read a fanfiction, though i’ve already know about it since a long time ago. Maybe from deviantart.com, fanfiction.net, wattpad.com or another place when I first saw drawings or paintings in doujinshi (Japanese term for fanfiction, cmiiw anyway) genre, then I loved many of them.

When I first read a doujinshi, it almost hit me hard. Actually I’ve been doing these fanfiction things since I was in elementary school, but barely realized what I’ve been doing back then. It was because I never make it into paper, I just playing the story in my head. I always do that everytime a story makes me sunken into its plot, wandered around its own world inside the book.

There’re many stories I loved, but hated the ending. Sometimes the story didn’t work out the way I wanted, so I just ignore what the authors wrote in their books and made my own better story in my head. And that’s how a fanfiction/doujinshi works!

So, from a couple days ago, I’ve started reading harry potter fanfics. More specific, some “Dramione” fanfics. (FYI Dramione stands for Draco-Hermione. Yes, they made them couple.) Since I don’t really like Ron-Hermione as a couple in the first place, somehow the movie makes Draco Malfoy fabulously handsome, and love between enemies couldn’t be more exciting. They made me love Draco-Hermione as a couple.

I must really love them because I can read their fanfics for hours, even a whole night long. Sometimes how I really excited about them makes me scared my self. But I know there’s time for things like this, so I’m just enjoying it. I know someday it’ll make me bored (like another things I ever crazy about) so I’ll be less excited about them, but not now. You can call me freak and I won’t feel offended. =p Not that I agreed, but sometimes a tiny sound in my head tells me that what I do now is similar with what people think a freak would do. And I don’t really care. teehee!

Talking about Dramione fanfics, if you’re interested to read it too, just remember this tips: mind the rate. When it rated M, there’re possibly many adult scenes in it, so just prepared in case you’ll think it disgusting because I often do. Yeah I’m already 20, but I don’t really appreciate those scenes.

So there’s a dramione fanfic, A Wonderful Caricature of Intimacy by Countess of Abe. In this fanfic, Draco Malfoy already had a son from undesired “accident” with Pansy Parkinson. They’re married although didn’t love each other, then divorced 5 years later. Draco became a warm-harted father, He really loves his son, Zane Malfoy. And somehow Hermione and her friend, Donny, end up being Zane’s teachers.

Here’s one of funny parts of the story, which made me LOL. A dialogue between Draco Malfoy and his 5 years old son, when they had a dinner (P.S.: Zane was only 5 years old, he couldn’t say “Hermione” fluently because it’s a little too hard for him) :

“Daddy, what’s a hottie?”

Draco choked on the sip of water he was taking as his son asked the offending question. “What? Where did you hear that word?”

“Miss Donny said it,” Zane replied.

Draco realized that the other teacher must have been drooling over the Quidditch player in front of his son. How lovely.

“Well, um, a hottie is a person that someone finds attractive,” Draco explained.

Zane stared at his father with a blank gaze. “What does that mean?”

Draco rubbed his forehead. “Ok, when you get older, you’re going to start thinking that girls are pretty…”

“Ew, yuck!” Zane grimaced.

Draco chuckled at his son’s innocence. Oh, the good old days when girls had cooties

“So, when you think a girl is pretty, you would call her a hottie, and the same for when girls think boys are handsome,” Draco lamely explained.

“Oh,” Zane said. “I think Miss Hernime is pretty. So, is she a hottie?”

Draco resisted the urge to laugh. God, how could he explain this to his son without confessing what he truly thought of the horrible she-zilla. “You can only think someone is a hottie when you’re a grown up.”

Great job, Draco. Wonderful parenting. This kid is on the fast-track to a Freudian complex.

“You’re a growmup, daddy,” Zane said. “Only growmups can know hotties? Is Miss Her-mi-one a hottie to you? Is Miss Donny a hottie?”

Draco wanted to cry. Just curl up in a ball and cry. When would the bloody questions stop? “Miss Hermione and Miss Donny are teachers and teachers cannot be hotties.”

And the bullshit award goes to Draco Malfoy.

“Why?” Zane asked.

“Because they work with children,” Draco said. Where in the hell was he coming up with these lies?

Zane looked confused. Draco felt confused… and nauseous… and tired.

“Are you a hottie, daddy?” Zane asked.

Draco nearly laughed, but stopped himself to prevent hurting his son’s feelings. “All Malfoys are hotties, Zane. It’s common knowledge.”

“I’m a Malfoy! I’m a hottie, too, daddy!” Zane said happily. “And gamma and gampa!”

This was officially the strangest conversation Draco had ever had with another human being.

Cara “Gila” Membangun Indonesia

Pengalaman dari Tolikara – Pak Kun and colleagues

Salam dari Jayapura!

Kami bertiga baru saja keluar dari pedalaman Tolikara menyaksikan Olimpiade Astronomi se Asia-Pacific.
Hasilnya? Pelajar2 Indonesia menduduki urutan ke-2 dari 9 negara, dengan perolehan 1 medali emas, 2 perak dan 4 perunggu. Korea Selatan di urutan pertama dengan 2 emas. Indonesia berada diatas China, Rusia, Kazakshtan, Kyrgistan, Nepal, Cambodia, dan Bangladesh. Lebih mengejutkan lagi, 3 medali perunggu Indonesia di raih oleh pelajar asal Tolikara, kabupaten terpencil di Tolikara, yang selama ini mengalami keterbelakangan pendidikan dan SDM.
Dari Tolikara, Indonesia belajar!

Kisahnya dimulai dengan seorang “gila” bernama Yohanes Surya, pendiri Surya Institute dan salah satu aktivis olimpiade science dunia, yang telah sukses mempromosikan banyak anak Indonesia ke ajang olimpiade science dunia, memprakarsai dilaksanakannya Olimpiade astronomi Asia Pacific (APAO) di Indonesia. Program ini ditawarkan ke berbagai pemda di Indonesia, namun tidak ada yang tertarik. Hingga suatu hari … Yohanes Surya ketemu dengan seorang “gila” lainnya bernama John Tabo, orang Papua, Bupati Tolikara, pegunungan tengah Papua, kabupaten baru yang terisolir dan hanya bisa dicapai dengan naik pesawat kecil dari Jayapura ke Wamena disambung berkendaraan off-road selama 4 jam, daerah dimana laki-laki tanpa celana dan perempuan tanpa penutup dada, ditemukan dimana-mana.

John Tabo, tanpa diduga, bersedia menjadi sponsor pelaksanaan APAO di Indonesia, selain menjadi tuan rumah, dia juga mendanai seluruh biaya persiapan tim olimpiade Indonesia yang datang dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia termasuk dari Papua,selama 1 tahun. John Tabo membangun tempat khusus (hotel) untuk menjadi venue olimpiade ini. Orang yang berfikir normal pasti bilang, untuk apa John gila ini urusin Olimpiade astronomi seperti ini? bukankah masih banyak persoalan internal kabupaten yang harus dia selesaikan? mulai dari pendidikan, kesehatan, ekonomi dan berbagai infrastruktur dasar? Cari kerjaan dan masalah saja!

John Tabo melakukan terobosan “gila”.

Dana diambil dari APBD, mau dari mana lagi? Dia tidak takut BPK atau BPKP yang akan menilainya salah prosedur. Untuk John Tabo, membangun adalah untuk rakyat, jangan dibatasi oleh hal-hal administratif. Yang penting misi dia untuk membangun SDM Tolikara yang mendunia dapat tercapai, dan itu “breakthrough” untuk mengatasi kemiskinan Tolikara, tidak perlu menunggu sampai infrastruktur jalan akses terbuka.

Dikumpulkanlah 15 anak Indonesia sejak februari 2010 di Karawaci untuk itu, kesemuanya “gila”. 8 dari 15 anak tersebut direkrut dari SMP/SMU Tolikara, yang semuanya memiliki kemampuan matematika yang rendah, menyelesaikan soal
matematika tingkat kelas 4 SD saja tidak mampu.

Bahkan ada yang namanya Eko, ketika ditanya 1/5 + 1/2, langsung dijawab 1/7!

Seorang anak dari Kalimantan Tengah, malah tidak diijinkan kepala sekolah dan gurunya untuk mengikuti persiapan olimpiade ini. Guru-gurunya mengatakan bahwa apa yang akan dia ikuti itu sia-sia saja. Dia melawan ini dan lari dari sekolah!

Ke-15 anak ini dilatih oleh pelatih2 “gila”, yang tidak bosan dan kesal melatih anak-anak ini. Dalam 10 bulan ke-8 anak Tolikara ini mampu
mengerjakan problem matematika paling sulit yang diajarkan pada tingkat terakhir SMA atau tingkat awal universitas.

Pendekatan mengajarnya juga “gila”. Astronomi adalah kumpulan dari berbagai ilmu science: matematika, fisika, kimia dan biologi menjadi satu mempelajari fenomena jagad raya.

Ini juga ilmu gila. Bayangkan seorang anak seperti Eko dari pedalaman Tolikara dapat menjadi salah seorang anak terpandai di bidang astronomi di dunia hanya dalam waktu 10 bulan??!!

Urusan ijin ternyata juga “gila-gilaan”.

Ternyata event APAO ini tidak diakui oleh Kemdiknas. Akibatnya, untuk mendatangkan peserta luar negeri, tidaklah mungkin mendapatkan fasilitas visa dari negara. Pake prosedur normal ijin dari Pemerintah cq Mendiknas tidak keluar. Entah gimana ceritanya …

Surya Institute akhirnya bertemu dengan seorang “gila” dari UKP4. Orang inilah yang mengetok Menteri Diknas, sehingga kemdiknas mau mengeluarkan ijin. Lalu orang ini memfasilitasi ijin visa disaat-saat terakhir, ketika semua sudah pasrah, bahkan orang ini mempertemukan
anak-anak Indonesia dengan wakil presiden RI. Orang normal mungkin akan berfikir, apa urusannya astronomi dengan wapres??!!

Lalu si orang gila dari UKP4 ini menugaskan 3 orang anggotanya yang kebetulan juga “agak gila” untuk datang menghadiri kegiatan olimpiade di Tolikara. Jadilah 3 orang itu sebagai satu2nya unsur pemerintah pusat dalam event Olimpiade di Tolikara. Lalu 3 orang ini membawa-bawa nama Wakil Presiden RI dan Kepala UKP4 untuk memotivasi anak2.

Dalam percakapan hati ke hati dengan 15 orang anak, semalam sebelum pengumuman, tidak kurang 7 orang anak terharu menangis, melihat begitu besarnya perhatian pemerintah RI kepada mereka, sesuatu yang tidak pernah mereka rasakan dari pemerintah di Jakarta selama 10 bulan mereka di godok di Karawaci. Datang dan duduk bersama dengan mereka, ternyata lebih dari segalanya bagi anak-anak ini.

Anak-anak Tolikara begitu terharu, menangis terisak, melihat ada orang Jakarta mau datang melihat mereka di Tolikara.

Apa hasil dari semua kegilaan ini? Selain perolehan medali-medali diatas:

1. Indonesia dikenal lewat Tolikara! Tolikara, meskipun tidak dikenal Indonesia, namun telah membuktikan kepada dunia bahwa dari tempat yang sedikit sekali dijamah pembangunan, bisa lahir juara-juara olimpiade science, yang akan mengharumkan nama Indonesia ditingkat dunia.

2. Tolikara mulai membenahi sumber daya manusianya menuju SDM berkualitas dunia. Hasil olimpiade ini telah memotivasi semua anak
Tolikara bahwa keterbatasan fisik dan fasilitas bukanlah halangan bagi anak Tolikara untuk menjadi SDM terbaik dunia. 8 anak Tolikara yang bersaing ditingkat dunia menjadi saksi hidup bahwa SDM Tolikara dapat bersaing ditingkat dunia.

3. Tolikara membuktikan bahwa mereka dapat membangun “lebih cepat” jika cara berfikir “gila” ini diterapkan. Hanya dengan cara gila seperti ini pembangunan Papua dapat dipercepat.

4. Kita perlu “A Tolikara Approach” untuk sebuah percepatan pembangunan Papua!

Pesan moral dari kisah ini: jadilah orang gila)* untuk membangun Indonesia lebih baik! Never underestimate things! Kesempatan ke Tolikara telah memberikan pelajaran berharga bagi saya. Belajar tidak harus selalu dari tokoh dunia. Dari seorang anak SMP yang tidak pernah diperhitungkan dipelosok Tolikara, kita dapat belajar untuk berbuat yang terbaik bagi Indonesia dan dunia.

AUGUST RUSH movie review

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since my last post, and I’d like to tell a review about one of movies I recently watched, altough this isn’t a new one. Actually it’s released in 2007.

First of all I must warn you, readers, this is a movie about music, but this is not a musical movie like some exaggerating movies where people confused with dialogues and songs. They’re totally different.

The title of the movie “August Rush” comes from the lead character: Evan Taylor, a young music prodigy. He is an orphan who sneaks away from the orphanage to find his real parents. He has absolute faith that music will mystically reunite him with his parents, who he is certain must be somewhere out there, although he has no clues to their identity. He is listening to the music from nature and anything that makes sound as a “message”, and somehow he thinks he should reply their message by playing the music.

So Evan sneaks away from the orphanage into the big city, where he is “adopted” by Wizard, the leader of a collection of street performing children. Wizard sees the child’s gift for music, which he wants to use for his own personal gain. He renames the kid “August Rush,” and tries to manage the kid’s career.

Meanwhile, fate is reuniting August’s biological parents, Lyla and Louis. Lyla is a renowned and beautiful cellist and Louis is a rock musician, bass player in club. Lyla and Louis falls in love once they meet each other following the music. Since they have different life and because of Lyla’s conniving, ambitious father; they have to separate without seeing each other again.

However, Lyla has had their baby-Evan, a prodigy born to music. Lyla has an accident and bears the baby prematurely. In case of affecting her career, Lyla’s father tells her that the baby died and gives the baby to an orphanage without telling her.
Lyla just found out that her child alive after 11 years later, when both Louis and Lyla have been giving up the music career, and the poor little Evan goes to New York to find his parents.

Overall I think this is a nice movie. Especially the music, it’s like an orchestra that gathers all kind of sounds, classical or rock, it’s great. The music that reaches all people..
Altough some people said that the ideas some kind of “unoriginal”, like:
Child separated from parents, hoping something in the world will reunite them (An American Tail).
Street urchins held together by a cruel gang-leader (Oliver Twist).
The notion that some unseen “force” unifies the world (Star Wars).

However, it happened to be one of my favourite and recommended movie.
